Former Saudi Arabia head coach Roberto Mancini has reportedly been approached by Nottingham Forest, who are looking for a replacement for Ange Postecoglou. Postecoglou was sacked after just 39 days in charge after Forest lost 3-0 at home to Chelsea.
Despite only taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo in September, the board of directors decided to part ways with him after failing to win a single game in his eight games in charge. This opens the door for Mancini to take charge at the City Ground, with Forest currently sitting 18th in the Premier League with one win, two draws and five defeats.
According to The Athletic, Forest are “in contact” with Mancini about a potential move to the City Ground. The 60-year-old Italian, who has been unemployed since leaving his duties with the Saudi national team last year, has an impressive resume.
The player has also been linked with a surprise move to Manchester United, with The Sun claiming he has told friends he believes Ruben Amorim could be offered the top job at Old Trafford if he is released by the club.
However, such a move seems highly unlikely, especially considering Mancini’s past with Manchester City.
Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has expressed support for Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim to remain in charge at Old Trafford after a difficult year in charge.
“He hasn’t had his best season,” Sir Jim told The Times’ The Business podcast. “Ruben has three years to prove he’s a great coach.”
He added: “I would be there. The press sometimes doesn’t understand. They want overnight success.
“They think of it as a light switch, you flip the switch and tomorrow everything will fall apart.
“You can’t run a club like Manchester United by reacting randomly to journalists who abuse you on a weekly basis.”
