Roma are keeping an eye on Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee and are considering a January move with Rasmus Heilund, who is currently proving himself in Italy with Napoli.
Roma could offer Joshua Zirkzee a route out of Manchester United. Roma are continuing to monitor the Dutchman ahead of a January transfer that could see him return to Italy.
Zirksee joined from Bologna about a year ago, but has struggled to make an impact. His lowest point came in the defeat to Newcastle last December, when fans cheered him off before half-time. He has scored 14 goals in 58 games, but has fallen down the standings under manager Ruben Amorim.
Roma are currently considering a loan move for the 24-year-old, and decision-makers at Old Trafford will likely consider moving Zirksee in the new year after spending more than £200m on new attacking talent in the summer.
The Times reports that Como is also pursuing the Dutchman, who made a name for himself in Italy, and has convinced the Manchester outfit to spend £36.5m on the forward. He scored a goal in his debut match, but has since been able to establish himself.
Roma are second in Serie A, level on points with leaders Napoli after six games, but they have scored just seven goals in six games, with Ukrainian frontman Artem Dovvik also scoring just one, prompting their desire to add more firepower.

Tsirkuzee may also see Hojlund’s move as an inspiration for the Dane, who also struggled in Manchester and decided to return to Italy by joining Napoli on loan in the summer. It didn’t take long for him to find the back of the net and he looked much more confident this term, scoring four goals in six games.
The Dutchman played for his country at Euro 2024 but is at risk of being left out of next summer’s World Cup squad unless he can find regular first-team football, with coach Ronald Koeman considering other options during qualifying.
Benjamin Sesco, signed from RB Leipzig, is currently leading the team in Manchester, aided by two further new players in Matheus Cunha and Brian Mbeumo. This limited Zirksee to just four substitute appearances, for a total of 82 minutes.
It would have gone unnoticed by Zirkzee, seeing how Hoylund has rediscovered his goalscoring form since moving to Italy. A move to Roma would see the Dutchman play on the European stage with the capital’s team in the Europa League. They have two games in Glasgow against Celtic and Rangers.
