Cristian Mosquera has given a glowing review of Arsenal prodigy Max Domann, describing the 15-year-old as “Lamine-ish”, comparing him to Barcelona superstar Lamine Yamal. The teenager made his Premier League debut earlier this season by winning a penalty against Leeds United and has been highly praised by Gunners manager Mikel Arteta.
Dauman has been training with the first-team squad for the past 18 months, growing increasingly convinced that Arsenal have a truly extraordinary talent. “I don’t want to compare him, but his style and the way he plays is similar to Lamine Yamal,” Mosquera told The Athletic. “His movements are Ramin-like.”
“I didn’t care about him at all and by the time I got to Singapore he was already training and playing. I couldn’t believe it when they told me he was 15 years old. He’s a really good player and I think he’s going to be world class.”
“You have players like Miles (Lewis Skelly) and Ethan (Nwaneri) who are 17 and 18 years old and they play like they’re 30 years old. They play like they’ve been playing football their whole lives. It’s unbelievable.”
Arteta has carefully managed the expectations surrounding Dauman’s development, and when asked about how his senior players have responded to training with the youngster, the Arsenal manager had a great answer.
At first, I reacted quickly and said, “Kick!” he laughed. “That was the first.
“And Max, to be fair, he was great. He got up and played the next game. He can give the players the same impression that he had at one point last year when he was 14 years old and was doing things for the players.”
“And now, yeah, we all love him. We just want to hug him, we want to help him. He’s also a really good kid, very well-liked by everyone here, and he just takes care of us.”
“It’s a responsibility to take care of someone with that talent and make sure we do what we have to do to make sure they have the best chance to make the most of that talent. That’s it.”
