England defeated Latvia 5-0 in Riga to qualify for next summer’s World Cup, but traveling fans questioned the support of the Three Lions manager and spoke out against him.
England fans mocked Thomas Tuchel on the night he booked a spot in the World Cup. 2,000 traveling fans chanted “Thomas Tuchel, we sing when we want to sing” after the England manager claimed the Wembley crowd was too quiet during last week’s game against Wales.
However, manager Tuchel took the match in good spirits as Harry Kane’s double ensured that England would reach the United States with two games remaining next summer.
England manager Tuchel said: “They had a reason for it today from my last comment and I think that’s fair enough. I was a bit provoked but I felt it was very creative. It made me laugh and that’s how it should be. It’s British humor and I can accept it. There was no harm done.”
Tuchel believes the presence of fans will be crucial to his team’s chances next summer as he toasts qualification.

“The cheering today was great and I’m sure the cheering in America will be great as well. We need that. When you go to a game as a player or a coach and you see the fans singing behind your team, it makes a big difference.”
“We want to make them proud and we want to make them happy. I’m sure they’ll be happy to see us and relate to the way we play. We’re trying to build something, and today was their best performance.”
Kane gave an emotional speech in the dressing room after the game, and Tuchel said his players were increasingly confident they could go all the way.
Tuchel added: “We have to enjoy this moment. We feel it in the dressing room too. It’s a very special moment. Qualifying for the World Cup is not an everyday thing. We will think about how this affects the next camp.”
“Harry (Kane) just said in his speech that in November we’re all ready to keep this thing going, no one is going to step back and take this for granted. We feel like they’re building something.”
“Maybe it will give us an opportunity to try things out and manage our time, but I can guarantee you that no matter how we structure these two games (qualifiers), we will remain competitive.
“We want to win both. It’s an obligation to ourselves and to our fans. We have to continue to do that. What we build is invaluable and we won’t bet on it.”
