Manchester United have added a new midfielder to their wishlist, with Borussia Dortmund star Jobe Bellingham emerging as a target after a slow start in Germany.
Manchester United are interested in signing Jobe Bellingham, with manager Ruben Amorim strongly backing a move for the Borussia Dortmund star. The Red Devils have had a new midfielder at the top of their shopping list for some time.
Although he was unable to sign a contract in the summer, he is already scouring Europe for potential reinforcements. And according to reports in Germany, Dortmund’s Bellingham has emerged as an option for United after a slow start at the Bundesliga giants. The former Sunderland player signed a five-year contract with Dortmund for £25m in the summer. However, things haven’t gone completely to plan, with the 20-year-old being given just three starts in the first few months of the campaign.
That has led to speculation that the player could leave, with German newspaper Bild reporting that Amorim is a big fan of his talent and that United are one of the clubs monitoring his future.
The Portuguese manager reportedly considers Bellingham an ideal addition to his 3-4-2-1 system due to his physical attributes. But United are not the only Premier League team interested in Bellingham. Crystal Palace are also thought to be keeping an eye on him as they search for a potential replacement for Adam Wharton, who has been linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Doubts over Bellingham’s future have emerged amid an ongoing dispute between Dortmund and the midfielder’s family. More recently, it was claimed that his father Mark was furious after the player was substituted in the 3-3 draw with St Pauli and got into a heated argument with manager Sebastian Kehl in the tunnel. It was later confirmed that the ban was in effect regarding the family.

“The family had now flown in for their son’s first Bundesliga game and wanted to meet Jobe after the game. They stood in the hallway to the locker room and had an emotional conversation with Sebastian, which was no problem at all given the relationship.”
“But in the future, we will make sure that players, coaches and officials have access to the locker room area so that they no longer get into trouble for commenting on such news. But today everything has been resolved. There is no drama.”
Even though the matter has now subsided, England icon Sir Geoff Hurst recently criticized the Bellingham senior for his actions. He said: “What annoyed me was the newspaper photo of the father of Jude Bellingham, the most powerful man in English football.
“When my son was left out of a game, he complained, but it’s a complete joke. If we don’t stamp out things like that, it’s an absolute shame.”
