Chelsea have announced the signings of Riley Ebo and Jashade Greenwood. Both players impressed the Blues with their talent and were included in the club’s Under-18 squad.
Chelsea have strengthened their Under-18 squad by announcing the signing of two promising young players from Premier League rivals West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers, Riley Eboh and Jascheide Greenwood respectively.
A statement on the club’s official website said: “Chelsea are delighted to announce the addition of two new players to our Under-18 squad, following Riley Eboh and Jashayde Greenwood signing scholarship terms with the Blues. “Ebo is a talented right-back who joined Chelsea from West Ham United.
“The 16-year-old impressed constantly for West Ham’s Under-18s last season, despite still being a student. He scored his first goal at that level in the away draw with Tottenham Hotspur.”

“Centre forward Greenwood has also joined the Under-18s team from Wolverhampton Wanderers. He has already featured in the Under-18 Premier League and has represented England at various youth levels, showing maturity and physicality beyond his years while scoring one goal in seven games.”
The Blues Under-18s are currently enjoying a strong start to the season, sitting second in the South Table, just one point behind Arsenal, despite having just one more game to play. Their latest victory was a 4-1 come-from-behind victory over West Brom under Hassan Sulaiman.
The Blues’ young head coach opened up about the upcoming season and a variety of other topics in early September.
He said he was “really enjoying the start of the season”, Chelsea’s website reported. “It was really good to get a proper look at all the players on the current team.
“Of course, we have seen some players move up to the youth team. Some of them we were already familiar with from last season, but it was also useful to observe some of the U16 players and even some of the U15 players who came in during pre-season. It was a great opportunity to assess them and gauge their future potential.”
“We have only played a few games, but the most encouraging thing is that we have seen the potential of the whole group. Every year we bring in a new team and there is always talk of what contribution they will make. This season it is important to make sure we challenge them and get the best out of them.”
Speaking about the principles he expects the team to uphold, which includes Ebo and Greenwood, he said: “As an academy, our values are very important.
“First and foremost, we want our players to be brave. Brave with the ball, brave without the ball. Another important value is to show some kind of edge. We want to see that edge in performance and training.”
“Competition raises standards, and if we can encourage that competitiveness, it will help us achieve the best possible results while developing strong, resilient athletes.”
Chelsea Under-18s are back in action this Saturday ahead of the London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.
