Manchester United have been repeatedly linked with Zinedine Zidane, but the Frenchman has been told to look elsewhere if he wants to return to management.
Former Italy national team manager Arrigo Sacchi has urged Zinedine Zidane to make Juventus his next managerial job. Zidane has already enjoyed success at another former club, leading Real Madrid to multiple Champions League successes, and Sacchi hopes the Frenchman can repeat his skills at the club where he starred between 1996 and 2001.
Zidane has been repeatedly linked with a move to Manchester United, with manager Ruben Amorim’s difficult start to the season prompting fresh speculation. The World Cup winner made no secret of his desire to one day manage France’s top team, but Sacchi encouraged him to return to Turin.
“I confess that I have hope,” Sacchi wrote in La Gazzetta dello Sport (from Goal). “He was a great Juventus player, he was a champion in the black and white, he had a maestro like Marcello Lippi as his mentor, so imagine him on the Juventus bench?
“A player like him, a player who always puts attacking football first, a player who believes in team play and the ability to contribute to the team. Our championship can only benefit from his presence.”
Sacchi also explained what he admires about Zidane’s Madrid team. “His Real Madrid played an attacking game, showed courage, held the ball most of the time and dominated the opposition with a detailed passing network, and the fans praised him,” he said. “I ask myself why a coach who has built such a beautiful machine doesn’t work.”

Zidane made the comments about his future during an appearance at the Trento Sports Festival in Italy. “I will definitely come back,” said the 53-year-old.
“As for the future, I don’t know. Not right away, but my feeling is that I would like to be able to coach the national team in the future. I would like to do that someday, but we’ll see.”
Like United, Juventus have had a tough few years on the pitch. Their most recent league title came in 2019/20 under Maurizio Sarri, but they have never won more than 78 points in any season since then.
Thiago Motta arrived last season with high praise, but was unable to make his presence known in the team and was sacked in March. His successor, Igor Tudor, qualified for the Champions League by one point and started the season with three wins from three games, but three consecutive draws in the league and two draws in the Campions League.
