LONDON (AP) – England manager Thomas Tuchel expressed disappointment at the “silent” support of his national team’s fans at Wembley Stadium during Thursday’s 3-0 friendly win over Wales.
England’s goals, all from Morgan Rodgers, Ollie Watkins and Bukayo Saka, came in the first 20 minutes, but Tuchel’s side were unable to build on their strong start.
The German-born manager believed the home crowd could have done more.
“We couldn’t score the fourth or fifth goal. The stadium was silent. It was silent,” Tuchel said.
“We never got that energy back from the fans, but I think the players gave a lot to get more energy out of the stands.”
Asked if he expected more from England fans, Tuchel, known for his outspokenness, replied: “Yes, we can give them something more than 20 minutes, three goals and the way they attacked Wales.”
“If you listened to just Wales fans for half an hour, it would be a bit sad because I think the team deserves a lot of support today.”
