Vrabel-Coach Patriots appears to put a dent in control of the Bills division on Sunday night

ORCHARD PARK, NY (AP) — Mike Vrabel is well aware of how the table has changed to New England and Buffalo’s AFC East Rival since eight seasons as a patriot linebacker in the 2000s.

As a player, Vrabel was part of the perennial Super Bowl contention team, earning 15 of 16 road trips against Buffalo. The first-year patriot coach is grateful for the challenges New England (2-2) is facing when traveling to play the AFC-leading bill (4-0) on Sunday night.

“One thing is, there’s no choice,” Vrabel joked the five-time defending division champion Bills.

“But I think it’s important to take the next step, indicating that we are ready and that some of our identities have an opportunity to abandon ourselves,” Vrabel added.

There’s no need to remind Patriot recipient Stefon Diggs what’s in store. Diggs has been his first trip since spending four seasons that helped turn the bill into a perennial candidate before trading with Houston in April 2024.

“It’s obviously a bit sentimental,” said Diggs, who joined Patriots in free agency this offseason.

“I know that team very well, so it’s going to be another test for us. Answer to the Bell will be important,” he added. “It’s going to be big that we’re in detail and not turning the stones over and leaving no breadcrumbs behind.”

Under Vrabel New England shows signs of competitiveness after four of the five losing seasons after Tom Brady’s departure, but the bill has become patriots in their divisional rule.

One example of how far a team is from New England, where they had the opportunity to win consecutive games for the first time since their three-game run from October 30th to November 30th. 20, 2022. By comparison, the bill lost a series of games.

A month after the season, the Patriots suddenly represent the Bills’ biggest division threat ahead of Miami (1-3) and the Jets (0-4).

Sunday’s victory defeated rivals in each division that are in a runaway position with AFC East as they won the title this season and a year ago.

The bill takes a button-raised, respectful approach, just like the patriots of their dominant era.

Coach Sean McDermott praised Vlavel and showed no signs of grumbling for Diggs, considering how their relationship was tense in the receiver’s final season.

“I was very impressed with how he looks,” McDermott said of Diggs’ recovery after a torn knee ligament last season. “But I’m not surprised. He’s an athlete, and he works very hard.”

The biggest concern is that Buffalo’s defense is difficult to stop running and there are too many lulls in the attack.

On the bright side, the bill has the luxury of fixing issues while undefeated.

“We didn’t play the best game,” linebacker Terrell Bernard said after beating New Orleans 31-19 on Sunday. “But we did enough to win.”

Prime Time Patriot

After playing a one-night game last year, the Patriots return to Primetime and go out on the first Sunday of three times on their schedule.

“These are my favorite types of games,” said defensive tackle Milton Williams. “Light. Primetime. I know everyone is watching. These are the types of games I live in.”

It also serves as his first chance to experience the atmosphere in Buffalo.

“I’ve seen clips and videos of fans throwing snowballs and stuff like that,” he said. “It’s not snowing yet. But definitely those fans, they’re stubborn. It’s going to be a fun environment.”

You won’t win in Buffalo

Vrabel is looking for his first coaching victory at Buffalo. He was 2-3 overall against the Bills in six seasons with the Titans, but 0-2 in the game at Buffalo. He was also 0-1 at Buffalo when he was an assistant for the Houston Texans.

“The last time they lost at home was 14 games ago,” Vrabel said. “We know that well and have to do a lot of really good things to give ourselves a chance.”

White Out

The Bills debuted the All-White on Sunday with a blue lettering from the rival release of the uniform “Cold Front” and are asking fans to wear white and follow suits. Meanwhile, the conditions are hardly winter. The prediction requires a clear sky and a game time temperature of approximately 65 Fahrenheit (verse 18 Celsius).

White thoughts

Bills cornerback Tre’davious White has eased the strength of Buffalo’s rivalry with New England, which he first experienced as the rookie’s first round pick in 2017.

That season, former patriot tight end Rob Gronkowski was punished for unnecessary roughness to dive into the white with his face down after intercepting Brady.

“Every game is a new game, a new challenge,” White said. “They have a new team, a new coaching staff, a new player.”
