Liverpool goalkeeper Alison Becker was injured in injuries as the Premier League champions fell into their second loss under the ARNE slot after a 1-0 loss at Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Brazil International jumped left to eliminate a low shot from Victor Osimhen in the 54th minute, quickly signaling his wounds to the Liverpool bench.
The nature of the injury wasn’t immediately clear, but Slot confirmed that Allison is not available for Saturday’s Premier League match at Chelsea.
“There’s nothing positive about falling off like this,” Slot said. “We can make sure he’s not playing on Saturday. Let’s wait how long it takes.”
Georgia International Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to fill out after coming to replace Allison, who was injured in each of the last two seasons. Last season, he went out for over two months from early October to mid-December, suffering from hamstring issues.
Allison’s injuries have made a frustrating night for Liverpool. Liverpool were defeated 2-1 at Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.
The only time Liverpool lost their second straight win since the slots arrived in the summer of 2024 was in March. The Reds were beaten by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and then beaten by Newcastle in the English League Cup five days later.
The 16-minute penalty by Osimhen was recognized by Dominique Zoboschrai, and was a difference between the teams when his subsequent elbow hit Galatasaray’s Barris Alper Irmaz in the face.
Liverpool started with star forward Mohamed Sara on the bench, but was awarded a penalty only to overturn the decision following Val Review in the 88th minute.
The Reds won their first seven games in all competitions this season. Includes five opening matches in the league in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid – but they weren’t convinced of any of those matches as they tried to deal with the likes of Florian Wiltz and Alexander Isaac, the club’s unscheduled club signatures. $570 million in summer spending has reached.
Palace and Galatasaray finally paid for Liverpool, but Slot said it was “not too far” from the form he showed last season when his team cruised to the Premier League title.
“There shouldn’t be any panic,” said Liverpool captain Virgil van Dyke. “But there needs to be improvements.”
