MADRID (AP) – Antoine Griezmann scored 200 goals against Atletico Madrid in the team’s match against Eintrahat Frankfurt in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Griezmann, the club’s all-time goal scorer, hit a milestone goal with a shot from close range after an assist from Julian Alvarez in the first half stop.
“We are delighted and extremely proud to have reached this mark,” Griezmann said. “It wasn’t easy.”
After scoring, Griezmann lifted up the jersey with the nickname “Grigi” on the back.
The French forward also had no targets recognized for handball in the 67th minute.
He received a standing ovation from the crowd at Metropolitano Stadium when he was replaced in the final minutes.
Atletico won 5-1 with three consecutive wins in all competitions. It was a 5-2 victory over Reio Valecano, 3-2, and a 5-2 victory at Real Madrid.
Griezmann scored his first goal of the season in the Madrid Derby on Saturday.
“The team has good momentum,” Griezmann said. “We have to stay on this path.”

Griezmann is in his 10th season with Atletico. His first stint at the club was from 2014 to 2019, two disappointing seasons in attendance at Barcelona. He returned to Atletico on a one-year loan in 2021, and was eventually extended.
Griezmann recently expanded his contract with Atletico until 2027.
