MILANO (AP) — AC Milan and Inter Milan passed a major hurdle to owning their own stadium after the city council approved the sale to the club early Tuesday after nearly 12 hours of overnight debate.

The club will demolish the 99-year-old’s stadium and jointly build a new 71,500-seat arena.
According to Italian tax institutions, San Siro Stadium and its surrounding area are valued at 107 million euros ($233 million).
The sale must be finalised by November 10th, when the second tier, completed 70 years ago that day, takes on the historical significance and is almost impossible to demolish.
