TORONTO (AP) – Djordje Mihailovic scored in the 60th minute, with Toronto FC playing in their seventh straight draw on Saturday in Inter Miami in a 1-1 tie.
Toronto (5-13-13) has conceded just six goals in their seventh straight draw. Toronto didn’t win in the final nine games, 0-2-7.
Miami (16-6-8) won a playoff spot mid-week, entering the game 28 points above Toronto’s in the Eastern Conference.
Tadeo Allende scored in the first half of Miami’s suspension time. Jordi Alba’s cross went just above Kosi Thompson’s head, and Arende headed it home for his ninth goal.
Mikhailovich pulled Toronto. Richie Lalijah had no boundaries after reaching Jonathan Osorio’s pass, and the unmarked Mikhailovic sent the ball back over the goal to tap on the 10th goal of the season.
Toronto goalkeeper Sean Johnson made a great save on the 29th to deny Lionel Messi’s right foot shot. Johnson again denied Messi on the 44th. The second half saw two more big saves, including Messi’s free kick from the edge of the box.
Saturday’s match attracted 28,855 announced crowds due to the first sold out of Toronto’s season.
