Farmingdale, New York (AP) – European Star Power Rider Cup Now that Gianfranco Zola has one of his carts, he’s surpassed the golfers on the course.
That’s the former Italian Chelsea football star Driving vice captain Francesco Morinari This week around Bethpage Black, we could probably provide some of his experience from playing in major international competitions.
Justin Rose, a British Chelsea fan, didn’t know that Zora would be with the Europeans until he bumped into him at the team’s hotel.
“I was just saying there, I met some really cool people in my life through the game of golf. But I was, ‘Oops! Wow! Hey, Gianfranco!’ I was a star track, and that’s amazing,” Rose said.
Rose has become a bigger soccer fan in recent years thanks to her 16-year-old son. There he admitted that he was not fully aware of some of the highlights of Zora’s career. This included scoring Chelsea’s victory goal in the 1998 Cup winner’s Cup Final, being named the club’s best player in 2003 and helping Italy finish as runner-up at the 1994 World Cup.
“But I think his energy, that’s what he can offer. I think he’s here in a way that doesn’t mean it. Let’s call him flying the wall,” Rose said. “But if there’s a moment when he’s watching and chimes the pressure, I think he can understand the pressure, understand the momentum and the locker room mentality.
“Hopefully he has the opportunity because I want to hear that.”
Back to Bethpage Black
Memories are back As soon as Cameron Young returns to Beth Page Black.
Members of the US Ryder Cup team don’t think he’s back since winning the New York State Open in 2017. It appears to be a lot different outside the ropes this week, but everything on the course was familiar.
“It feels like I’m back in the same place every year. There’s no time between them and it’s the same thing as coming here,” Young said. “I walked on my first tee and it feels like I was here yesterday.”
Young shot the then-course record 64 in the final round, catching Chris DeForest and beat him in the playoffs. Even eight years later, the 28-year-old can remember certain details of his round.
“I hit a shot at 12,” Young said.
He had long set a goal of returning to Beth Page of the Ryder Cup, but needed another gathering to make it. Young thought it was a long shot in the middle of the season, but he sped late and surged, finishing in the top 12 in each of the last four events, Captain’s Pick by Keegan Bradley.
Now Young tries to create new memories on the Black Course.
“It all feels the same,” he said. “There’s obviously the stands and better players hanging out, but the golf itself feels the same way.”
There is no final round finish at the Junior Ryder Cup Beth Page
Junior Rider Cup players will not be able to finish on Bethpage Black as planned.
The singles match in Thursday’s final round was shifted to the Nassau Country Club due to forecasts of bad weather that have already forced a change to the main rider cup program.
The Nassau Country Club in Glencove was the venue for Foursome and Fourball matches between six boys and girls from Europe on Tuesday and Wednesday. The decision to continue single-player came after the opening ceremony of the Rider Cup had already risen from Thursday to Wednesday due to forecast rain.
The US has a 10-8 lead and will need 15 1/2 points to regain the trophy that Europe won in 2023 from 9 1/2 to 2015.
Griffey returned behind the camera with the Rider Cup
Ken Griffey Jr. and his camera I’m back at work with the Ryder Cup.
The Baseball Hall of Fame works for the PGA of America digital team of the Ryder Cup. He filmed Masters for Masters.com earlier this year.
Griffey, who said he took photos when the kids started playing sports, had already been filming the World Series, All-Star Games, NFL games and soccer. Masters was his first time filming golf.
Rider Cup Emotions
The Ryder Cup is packed with so many passions that can elicit emotions from players that are usually less visible.
David Duval was ramming his fist around the green in his first Ryder Cup in 1999. Dustin Johnson had to think hard about the most emotion that calmed down by showing the big fist pump (not too big) of the Medina Ryder Cup.
That led to the question of Cameron Young, the only New Yorker in this Ryder Cup. Is there anything he could be hooked this week?
“Yeah, I think that could happen,” Young said with a slightly smile. “There’s nothing I love more than giving myself the opportunity to see what I can do in that aspect.”
He is not alone.
Morikawa Charcoal was asked about an American who hopes to be overcome by the energy of the Ryder Cup.
“I want to see Cam Young throw a huge fist pump into someone’s face. I love it,” Morikawa said. “So Home State, Home Cloud, Red, White and Blue played in the Junior Rider Cup.”
Morikawa said he knows he’s younger from junior and college golf.
“Yeah, I want to see a nice little putter promotion, an undercut and a fist pump,” Morikawa said. “I don’t know if he’ll do that. He didn’t smile after he won, so I hope.”
