LONDON (AP) – Arsenal forward Noni Maduke faces “weeks” on the sidelines after suffering injuries Sunday 1-1 draw against Manchester City.
At halftime, Madueke only said that manager Mikel Arteta had been suffering from non-specific “problems.” He was reported to have suffered a knee injury.
No specific time slots were given for his recovery.
“We don’t know yet. We’ll need to scan him again next week,” Arteta said Tuesday. “He felt something at the start of the match and tried to continue. At halftime, he hurt so much, so let’s take a look.”
Maduke was signed $65 million I was impressed by the Arsenal and the UK campaign from Chelsea in the offseason.
“It’s a shame to see him because he was in such a good condition,” Arteta said. “He’s got consistency, he’s got a flow to the team and he looked like a real threat, so that’s a big oversight for us.”
Arsenal plays third tier Portbert in the English League Cup on Wednesday.
Arteta confirmed that defender Piero Hincapie was ruled out with a gro caliber injury.
