Austin, Texas (AP) – Myrto Uzuni scored on stop time and Diego Rubio also scored, with Austin FC defeating the Seattle Sounders 2-1 on Saturday night.
Austin (12-10-8) scored 44 points this season, finishing sixth in the Western Conference past Portland (42). Seattle (12-9-9) finished fifth with 45 points.
Uzni’s left-foot volley in the point blank range kept the score at six minutes of injury. Dani Pereira played an arcing cross from the right to the back post, and CJ Fodrey’s diving header set up Uzni for the finish.
The 2025 MLS All-Star Blood Stever made a diving stop in the 86th minute to lob a George Minnon Go, which appears to be a specific goal, and finished with five saves.
Rubio redirected a pass that Seattle’s Jackson Regen played near the midfield and beat goalkeeper Andrew Thomas with a shot inside the back post, overtaking the defense to the ball before giving Austin a 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute.
Starting in place of Stephen Frey (Illness), Thomas made four saves.
Minougou replaced 18-year-old Snyder Brunell, who made his second start in the MLS, scoring his first goal of the season 35 seconds later to make it 1-1. Danny Musovsky, in the right corner of the 18-yard box, played his first touch cross to the charging Minon Go for Christian Roldan to run to the ball first and a one-touch finish to the side net from near the penalty spot.
Austin is 12-2-0 with his first goal this season.
The Sounders are 5-2-3 against Austin in the regular season and 3-1-1 at the 2nd Stadium.
