MADRID (AP) — Daniormo set up one of Ferran Torres’ two goals with a neat back heel flick as Barcelona beat Getafe 3-0 in the Spanish league on Sunday.
The newly renovated Camp Noo Stadium didn’t have the necessary permissions, so it was Barcelona’s second straight game at the training facility.
Ormo’s clever flicks within the region led to Barcelona’s Torres score in the 15th minute, and an assist to Torres in the 34th, allowing the Catalan club to increase their first half advantage.
Ormo then closed the score with a shot from near the 62nd place penalty spot after a set-up by the alternative Marcus Rashford. Just before Ormo scored, a man carrying the Palestinian flag entered the field, but did not affect the goal. The man was taken away by security.
“We had to focus on our performance,” said Barcelona coach Hansi Frick. “We controlled the game. It’s not easy to score three points against Getafe.”
The victory moved defending champion Barcelona within two points of leader Real Madrid. He defeated Espanyol 2-0 on Saturday.
“It was important to score three points,” Torres said.
The match was usually held at Estadi Johan Cruyff, which hosts Barcelona women’s teams and men’s reserves and youth teams. The club was already playing in the home opener – Valencia’s 6-0 defeat on September 14th.
Getafe, who won three of three of his first four games, fell to eighth place.
Atletico’s anguish
Atletico Madrid’s preseason struggle continued in a 1-1 draw in Mallorca, giving the club the worst league start under manager Diego Simeone five games later.
Julian Alvarez missed a penalty kick in the first half, and Atletico admitted a slow equalizer as he failed his fourth victory in five league matches.
Atletico’s only victory so far was 2-0 against Villarreal last weekend. Just before SimeOne took over as coach, he has scored six points, a total of lowest points since five games (3 points) since 2009-10.
“We’re trying to build a new team,” Simeone said. “We had a few players arrive and we knew this could happen. We knew we had to go through this process.”
Atletico also drew 1-1 against both Elcci and Arabes after opening in a 2-1 defeat at Espanyol. They were struck by a 3-2 loss at Liverpool in the opening match of the Champions League on Wednesday.
Forward Alvarez saved a 14-minute penalty kick by Mallorca goalkeeper Leo Roman, and striker Alexander Sollos was sent for his 72nd hard foul after a video review.
Sollos had swapped Alvarez about ten minutes before leaving. Alvarez didn’t hide his frustration at being replaced, but Simeone later downplayed the player’s response.
Having confirmed eight goals in six matches in all previous tournaments, Atletico advanced shots from within the area by Conor Gallagher on the 79th, but Vedat Muriki equalized for the host with a header on the 85th.
Mallorca continues to win with just two points.
Earlier on Sunday, Celta Vigo painted 1-1 for Reio Valecano, while Elche defeated Oviedo 1-0 with Andre Silva in a promotional club match, with a nine-minute goal.
