PARIS (AP) – The French football league has postponed the match between host Marseille and leader Paris Saint-Germain for almost 24 hours due to harsh weather forecasts in the region.
The LFP said in a statement that the match will take place at 8pm on Monday (1800 GMT) at Stade Bellodrome in Marseille, southern France. A French weather forecaster said heavy rain and storms will occur on Sunday night, creating safety hazards and unplayable conditions.
The decision appeared to prevent most PSG players from participating in the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris on Monday night. Striker Osmane Dembele supported the victory and was nominated for the Men’s Award among nine PSG players.
However, PSG’s 5-0 intermilan star Dembele and PSG’s teammate Desiré Deux were injured and not included in manager Louis Enrique’s team due to Marseille match.
PSG won the first four league games of the season and is the only side that has since been undefeated Reel’s defeat Saturday.
In Sunday’s game, it is: Monaco vs. Mets. Paris FC vs. Strasbourg. Auxerre vs. Toulouse; and Louvre vs. Lorient.
