MADRID (AP) — Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camabinga played the first few minutes of the Real Madrid season after recovering from injuries.
Bellingham has not played for Madrid since the US Club World Cup, but he has since Surgery on his left shoulder July 16th.
The English midfielder had been nursing a shoulder injury since 2023, but had delayed surgery to avoid missing time between Madrid and the UK.
He missed the opening game of La Liga and the opening of Madrid’s Champions League. Madrid won all of them without him.
Also, shoulder maneuvering forced Bellingham to be locked out of two World Cup qualifiers, which England won in September.
French midfielder Camabinga was painted underneath at the same time as Bellingham to sniff out loud applause from the Santiago Bernabéu crowd. He has not played this season due to an ankle injury.
“That’s great news for both them and the team. We need them,” Coach Xabi Alonso said. “They are elite players and, given the number of games we play, it needs to be available to everyone.”
