Barcelona, Spain (AP) — Killian Mbappe and Edder Militan score from outside the region, making the Barcelona-based side the first loss as Real Madrid passed Espanyol 2-0 in La Liga on Saturday.
Espanyol gave Militan a space smiggen, and the Brazilian defender fired a right-footed screamer into the top corner in the 22nd minute. Diving Marco Dmitrovich got a finger on the ball but was unable to stop the powerful strike.
It was Mbappe’s turn, 47th, when he chose a spot in the bottom corner and Dmitrovich broke the strike where he could see the net.
Mbappé has scored seven goals in six Madrid games this season. This includes a 2-1 defeat over Marseille to start the Champions League on Tuesday.
Madrid unleashed five points from Espanyol and Barcelona. Estadi Johan Cruyff with 6,000 seats on sunday.
