BERLIN (AP) – After missing out on European qualifications for the first time since promotion to the Bundesliga, Leipzig tore his team apart and started again.

The Red Bullback Club was involved in 26 transfers over the summer after hiring a new head coach and three assistants amid 12 changes in the coaching setup.

Favorite player Xavi Simons, Benjamin šeškoMohamed Simakan and Loïs Openda all left the club – reportedly generating around 200 million euros ($237 million), but the arrivals include Conrad Harder, Arthur Vermeeren and Johan Bakayoko, AndrijaMaksimović, Yan Diomande And Brazilian forward Romulo has raised the club’s spending to 136 million euros ($161 million). Leipzig sports director Marcel Schaefer, who is responsible for the Leipzig, was recognized before Tuesday. Champions League It’s been a strange thing, “I just look at other teams when I play in Europe.”

Since being promoted to the Bundesliga in 2017, Leipzig has not at least qualified for the Europa League until his seventh place finish last season.

“Going extra distance for qualifying next season should be a motive,” Schafer told online media phone.

New coach Ole Warner, Employed by Leipzig After he was fired by Werder Bremen Refusing to sign an extensionoverseeing a promising start with three wins from four games, including the German Cup 6-0 defeat at Bayern Munich In the opening game of the Bundesliga. Bayern’s subsequent performance shows that the defending champions are already playing at a higher level than the rest.

In contrast to the previous year, Leipzig’s signature was not from a sister club, but Red Bull’s head of global football, Jurgen Klopp, played a role in persuading players to join.

“To be honest, we probably lost a bit of DNA,” Schafer said of his reconstruction work. “So the profile we looked for was definitely young, hungry and high potential. We are looking for a team that will perform high strength on the ball, but especially high strength on the ball. And of course, you need some skills for that, you need a profile, you need the right mentality for that.

Leipzig’s model was previously built on the development of promising young talent, but Schaefer recognized greater competition to sign player profiles such as Eintrack’s Frankfurt, Bayer Leberkusen and Borussia Dortmund. The latter defeats Leipzig, especially for signature Young Erling Haaland From 2019 Red Bull Salzburg.

“Competition is difficult,” Schafer said. “Five or six years ago, there were only a few clubs that developed with a really focus on young, hungry, potential players. Now, even on the UK’s top teams, they are trying to sign the best talent in the world and the best talent in Europe.”

Schafer suggested that Leipzig has the advantage to attract younger players as well, as well as the development of records of Christopher Nukank, Dani Ormo, Yoshko Gvaldior, Deiot Upamecano, Ibrahima Konate and Dominique Schboschlei.

“Maybe it’s better to pay respects before taking a direct step from a smaller club to a larger club,” Schaefer said. “Maybe they don’t have time to play and they don’t have the patience because all the top clubs need to win the title. Everything else is secondary.”

Founded only in 2009, Leipzig doesn’t just want to develop players. The club won the German Cup in 2022 and again the following year.

“Everyone knows we have ambition,” Schafer said. “We’ve already won the title and we want to compete not only in Germany, but also in Europe, but also in Germany.”
