WOLFSBERG, Germany (AP) — Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen joined WOLFSBERG on a two-year deal, Bundesliga Club said Wednesday.
The 33-year-old midfielder became a free agent this summer when his Manchester merger contract expired.
“Wolfsberg is my first club in the Bundesliga and I’m really looking forward to this new adventure,” Eriksen said in the team’s announcement. “I’m sure we can achieve something together at Wolfsburg. I’m sure the discussion with the club boss has been very good.”
Eriksen has made 310 appearances in the Premier League. He was in Tottenham between 2013 and 2020. He also plays for Ajax, Brentford and AC Milan.
“Christian Eriksen has players who have seen everything and experienced at the highest level,” said Sebastian Singierolus, Wolfsberg’s sports director. “His vast experience, his quality on the field and his personality will be a valuable boost, especially for young players.”
Eriksen collapsed in the Danish opening game at the 2021 European Championships. He was resuscitated with a defibrillator. He then equipped with an implantable device to monitor the rhythm of the heart.
Wolfsburg will host Cologne on Saturday.
