Toronto (AP) – Film script is written about a soccer club in Ukraine Shakhtar Donetsk 2022 season During a complete military invasion of Russia’s home to Donbas region.
Projects Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson, which used scripts commissioned by the writing of the partnership, were announced at the Toronto International Film Festival on Tuesday.
The purpose of this story is to capture “the story of a real loser of grit, heart and survival set against the background of war.”
Shakhtar reached the quarterfinals in 2011 and was a Champions League regular for 20 years, despite having been exiled from Donetsk since 2014 when Russian supporters first moved to Donbas. The team has since played home games in Ukrainian leagues and cities across the country.
Shakhtar was the head of the Ukrainian Federation in February 2022, when Russia began its full invasion. The football season was cancelled and Shakhtar international players, including several from Brazil, had to leave Ukraine.
The team continued to play charity games in Europe despite losing players who were released from contract Emergency rules handed over by FIFA.
“It’s an incredible honor to tell this story,” Tamacy and Johnson said in a statement. “It’s everything we love in films – emotional, inspiring, thrilling – and more than anything, it’s a fascinating account of the triumph of the human spirit and the enduring strength of our most precious values, freedom, compassion and courage.”
Shakhtar is currently second in the Ukrainian League and will play in Europe this season. Third tier competition, conference league.
