London (AP) – Sam Kerr It is scheduled to make its first appearance at Chelsea since January 2024 after recovering from ACL damage.
The 31-year-old Australia International will be on the team for the first women’s Super League match of the season against Manchester City on Friday, coach Sonia Bonpasper said.
“We don’t know if she’ll start yet, but she’s on the team,” Bonpasar said Thursday. “She trains well. She’s in a good physical position and she’s in a good mental position.
“It’s great that I’ll take her to the team with her leadership experience, but at the same time, she’s been off the pitch for so long, so we have to be patient with her.”
Kerr is considered one of the best players in the world and helped Chelsea win five WSL titles.
Defending champion Chelsea Injured England players Lucy Bronze and Lauren James are not injured, but Meila Ramirez is also on the sidelines.
