Hair salon chatter led to the sin of an unproven bet against Paketa

A conversation at a hair salon owned by Brazilian soccer player Lucas Paketa’s mother was key to West Ham Forward. Accused of spot correction betting In the Premier League.

That’s what Paketa was like I finally cleared the bill On Wednesday, a 314-page document was published, providing an overview of the case details.

The committee found that the charges by the British Football Association have not been proven after claiming that they intentionally received yellow cards in four separate matches to affect the betting market.

The central point of the incident was a conversation held at a salon in Rio, owned by Paketa’s mother, Christian Trentino.

“I don’t know if the person I spoke to might have interpreted my usual conversation about Lucas as indicating that he is likely to get a yellow card in the match he was given,” she said in a witness’s statement.

FA claim

The FA alleged that 542 bets were placed by 253 different bettors, claiming that at least 27 could connect to Paketa from his hometown. A bet of 46,759 pounds ($62,920) was placed, with a prize of 213,704 pounds ($287,585) and a profit of 166,945 pounds ($224,660).

The FA said there was “attractive reasoning” that people were told “directly or indirectly.”

Trentino bought the salon with talented money from his son after joining Italian club AC Milan from Brazilian team Flamengo, the committee said.

She said she would discuss her son at the salon, including his emotional state from time to time.

“Maybe he’d said something to someone about Lucas’s low mood, or he might have struggled with something as part of these daily conversations. I certainly don’t know and I might not remember anything specific, but I probably have nothing to do with a normal conversation.

The FA claimed it was intentionally hoping to be booked intentionally between November 2022 and August 2023 in matches against Leicester, Aston Villa, Leeds and Bournemouth.

He was cleared in July.

Spot correction is when elements in the game are intentionally fixed to manipulate the betting market.

The committee says the data is “contradictory to spot fixes.”

For written reasons, the committee said the betting data was not a “spot fix explanation” but “contradicts the spot fix in many respects but consistent with alternative explanations.”

The committee said the FA itself accepts “the case is entirely dependent on circumstantial evidence.”

During the hearing, the FA’s own legal representative opposed the key witnesses of the governing body.

Paketa, known as a religious figure, was not different from “not interested in gambling.”

Given his personality and the relatively small amounts he placed on the bet, the committee is even more skeptical of the FA allegations.

“It fully demonstrates his generosity, does not seem to be interested in bets, it simply does not seem to be interested in his bets, “to his family and friends,” and it makes no sense to have an advantage over the bookmaker due to the relatively modest amount.”

The committee said that a more likely explanation of betting patterns, rather than spot fixation operations, was “randomly handed” of “hot tips” or perceived inside information within Brazil.”

It said he refused to acknowledge his support for the FA case regarding Paketa’s field conduct when he received the yellow card, and said he liked evidence from witnesses such as former West Ham manager David Moys.

The FA said it would not appeal the decision.

“The FA is committed to ensuring that the integrity of football is maintained, and a complete and thorough investigation will always be made to serious allegations of violation of rules,” the statement said.
