Manchester City signed Gian Louis Donnaruma from Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday after selling longtime goalkeeper Adason Moraes to Fenerbafs.
Donnarumma – One of the best shot stoppers in the world was a key figure in PSG’s run to the Champions League title last season, but was considered a surplus for requirements at French clubs. Lucas Chevalier’s signature from Lille last month.

Donnarumma was undoubtedly the best goalkeeper in Europe last season due to an inspirational shot stop in the Champions League knockout stage. He remained on his contract at PSG for a year, but was not ready to leave for free at the end of the season.
“He has accumulated a wealth of top-level experience and knows what it takes to achieve success on a sustainable level,” said the mayor of football Hugo Viana.
Ederson won 18 trophies at City after joining from Benfica in 2017.
“I arrived in hopeful Manchester eight years ago,” said Ederson, 31.
Viana praised Edason for “skills and courage,” adding that it was “important in helping City play the beautiful football we saw.”
Ederson’s departure concludes with the players who became the dominant British force under Guardiola and the winner of the 2023 Champions League, now the best, but now the best.
In this transfer window, Kyle Walker set out for Burnley on a permanent deal, Jack Graele joined Everton on loan, and Manuel Akanji signed Inter Milan on Tuesday.
James Trafford, 22, signed by Burnley in the offseason, began the season as City’s first choice goalkeeper, but could be taken away by Donnaruma.
The relocation of Donnarumma and Ederson was announced hours after the summer transfer window for European football was closed in the UK late Monday. However, the windows are still open in Türkiye.
