Newcastle has signed a report of $93 million reported club record fee

NEWCASTLE, UK (AP) — German striker Nick Ultemad signed Newcastle records on Saturday after joining from Stuttgart with a reporting fee of £69 million ($93 million).

The 23-year-old Ultemed Newcastle move has increased the chance that Alexander Isaac will eventually set off for Liverpool.

Woltemade scored 17 goals in 33 matches for Stuttgart last season, the highest scorer in the recent under-21 European Championships, making his national team debut in Germany in June.

“From the first contact I felt like the club really wanted me and had big plans for me,” said Ultemade, who was reportedly chased by German champion Bayern Munich for much of the offseason.

“Leaving Germany is a huge step in my life, but everyone is so welcoming I already feel like a family. From talking to my head coach, this is the perfect place to find my best level.”

Woltemade began his career with Werder Bremen and was the youngest Bundesliga player ever, at the age of 17 in 2020. He spent last season at Stuttgart and stands out for his height – 6 feet 6 (1.98 meters) and technique.

Newcastle has struggled to find a possible alternative to Isaac throughout the summer, and has also released fellow striker Calm Wilson.

“We are pleased to be able to quickly sign Nick signs on the line,” said Eddie Howe, manager of Newcastle. “He fits in his profile for what we are trying to add to our attack options.

“He is strong in many areas. He has excellent technical capabilities and has proven to be a real threat in one of Europe’s top leagues. But he is still an age where there is plenty of room for development and growth here.”
