Hamburg, Germany (AP) – Hamburger SV’s first home game in the Bundesliga since 2018 was disappointed on Friday, with the hosts 2-0, 2-0, 2-0 in front of the Full Volks Park Stadion.
The goals by Adam Dwigawa and Andreas Hantonge gave visitors all three points that were their first Bundesliga conflict since the 2010-11 season.
The inter-club games have long been marking the derby as the clash of style and spirit began to become a noisy backdrop in front of 57,000 fans, one of the world’s most interesting.
The home side was on the lead early, but St. Pauli took the lead 19 minutes later.
Polish centre-back Muwawawa reached the end of Pereira Reiz’s cross, and his shot was too strong for the extended hand of goalkeeper Hoier Fernandez.
Home fans exploded for three minutes in the second half when it appeared that Lanceford Koenigsddorfer had scored an equalizer, but the goal was choked offside. Things got a little worse after 10 minutes.
Joel Fujita’s defensively ripped pass led Andreas Hountondji to the goal, and he transformed from the closest angle after rolling up the keeper.
After Giorgi Gocholeishvili was sent for a second bookable attack from 13 minutes, there was no way to return to the home side.
It was the first time the away team won the Hamburg Derby in the last nine matchups.
St. Pauli has four points from two games, while Hamburg has one point.
