FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Charlotte FC has acquired goalkeeper Drake Calendar from Intermiami, the club announced Tuesday.
InterMiami received a general allocation of $400,000 in 2025 and an additional $350,000 in 2026. Miami can receive $75,000 in conditional, general allocation money and retain a percentage of sales in the event of permanent trade or transfers in the event of future.
The 27-year-old Callender barely played this season after being injured while playing for the US national team in January. He lost the role he started with 39-year-old Oscar Ustali after undergoing sports hernia surgery in May.
Callender joined Intermiami in 2019 ahead of the club’s first season, before joining Intermiami in 2019, and spent two seasons in the club’s development path with Intermiami CF II before making his first start with the first team in 2022.
“Drake has joined the team in over three years of MLS experiences and is on a great stage for goalkeeper development,” Charlotte General Manager Zoran Kreneta said in a statement. “His MLS experience and recent appeals from the national team have become important pieces that will help strengthen our goalkeeping core as he continues to build the strongest team possible to get him used to, but we look to the future.”
The calendar was InterMiami’s record-breaking starting goalkeeper to the Shield of MLS supporters, helping Miami win the League Cup title in 2023.
The Sacramento, California player has made 118 Club Records appearances in all competitions, including MLS Play 96. He gave up 140 goals and shut out 14 for Intermiami.
