CLEVELAND (AP) – Larry Nance Jr. intends to shed some light on why so many NBA players have become huge fans of international football.
The Cleveland Cavaliers Forwards have teamed up with Men Men of Blazers Digital Network to launch a digital show called “Switch the Play,” featuring football enthusiasts NBA players, and discussing events in the game.
The first episode featuring NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder’s Alex Caruso will debut on Thursday.
“I joined the NBA in 2015. I was probably one of a few guys in the league who could tell who won the Premier League last season,” Nance said. “Now, soccer is the starter of constant conversation in the locker room. The popularity of soccer has grown enormously over the past decade. It has an international impact on the NBA and ensures the game consistently produces more players.”
The relationship between soccer and the NBA didn’t seem to be running as deeply as it was.
Many of the top basketball stars – Victor Wenbagnama, Giannis Anteto Compo, LeBron James, Jimmy Butler, Lukadon Sic, James Harden, Joel Embiid, and others – have not made the secret of their appeal to football. Wenbanyama was on the field The Paris Saint Germain Manchester City Games held in Paris last winter He and the San Antonio Spurs were there for a pair of games with the Indiana Pacers. Spurs Center went viral again this summer after participating in pickup soccer games from around the world.
Fandom goes both ways: soccer icon Lionel Messi and other Inter Miami Misters took part in the Miami Heat Games in 2024, Real Madrid stars Vinicius Jr. and Killian Mbappe are regulars in the NBA games, and Butler said last season he lost how many jerseys he traded for a soccer standout in the NBA game.
The NBA modeled it NBA Cup in Season Tournament Some of my work in European football when it comes to trophy play during the season.
“The show gives stars around the league the opportunity to hear fans talk about their football fandom, giving them the similarities between the two games and the way we consider professional athletes,” Nance said.
Nance played football until he was 16 and is now the owner of Premier League Club Leeds United, and became an investor in 2023 along with Indiana Guard TJ McConnell. The 33-year-old is now in his 11th NBA season with a career average of 7.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
