MADRID (AP) – Despite debuting most of the new signatures, Atletico Madrid has admitted two late goals, unable to avoid losing a Spanish league match for the first time under manager Diego Simeon.
Host Espanyol’s 2-1 victory on Sunday was Atletico’s first opening defeat since Simeone took over in late 2011. Before 2009, they had not lost any opening league matches.
