MANSHETER, England (AP) — Manchester United manager Reuben Amorim believed Arsenal’s victory goal in the team’s Premier League match at Old Trafford on Sunday should have been allowed to be allowed to a “clear” foul of accumulation.
United goalkeeper Altay Bayındır was postponed by Arsenal defender William Saliba. As Saliba returned to Baindil, the goalkeeper flaps the ball and was able to knock him across the line towards Riccardo Calfioli, who nodded from close range.
It was finally secured Arsenal’s 1-0 victory And Amorim was disappointed that his goal was allowed to stand.
“I think that’s obvious,” Amorim said. “Players are touching the goalkeeper without the idea of going to the ball. That’s not allowed.”
The Portuguese coach added: “You want to protect the guy attacking and have (more) goals. But when you touch the goalkeeper like that, I think it’s difficult.”
United captain Bruno Fernandez said at a meeting arranged before the season that the Premier League will call for more fouls if players block opponents with set pieces and don’t see the ball.
“But they’re just saying that,” Fernandez said.
“Altai said the moment he punches the ball, he gets a touch. But obviously in the Premier League, they don’t give much in that situation.”
