ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Louis Muriel scored goals in half of each, with Martin Ojeda holding the goal and assist in a 4-1 victory over Intermiami and Orlando City on Sunday night.
Muriel scored in two minutes, giving Orlando City (9-6-8) a lead, and was not assisted in his first career goal to draw Intermiami (12-5-6).
Ojeda gathered for the 13th assist with Muriel’s goal, and expanded his club record winning streak with a goal contribution to 14.
Orlando City took a 2-1 lead five minutes into the second half with Muriel’s eighth goal of the season.
Ojeda found the net for the 14th time this season, giving Orlando City a 3-1 lead in the 58th minute. His 27 target contributions lead the league.
Marco Pasaric scored an unassisted goal in the 88th minute to gain a three-goal advantage. It was his 10th goal in his first season in the league.
Pedro Gallase made a total of four saves with Orlando City goal.
Óscar Ustari has quit Intermiami’s 8 shot.
Intermiami superstar Lionel Messi, tied up with Nashville SC’s Sam Salridge and 18 goals in a league lead, missed the match as he struggled on August 2 in a League Cup match against Nekakisa due to a 38-year-old right leg injury. Messi’s 18 goals came while playing in 18 of the club’s 23 games.
Orlando City will jump to fourth in the Eastern Conference. Head coach Oscar Pareja needs another victory to reach 100 in all competitions.
InterMiami sits sixth, but has three games against the top four and second-placed Columbus Crew.
Intermiami will be holding the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday. Orlando City will host Sports Kansas City on Saturday.
