MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) – Kylian Mbappé surpassed Lionel Messi as the World Cup’s all-time leading scorer with 22 goals, scoring twice for France. lost to England 6-4 in the third place match on Saturday.
Mbappe finished the World Cup with 10 goals, two ahead of Messi in the race for the Golden Boot, which is given to the tournament’s top scorer. If Argentina remains ahead of Messi after they face Spain in Sunday’s final, he will become the first player to win the Golden Boot award twice.

England stars Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham were not in the team’s starting XI, but Bellingham came on as a substitute and scored late in stoppage time. He finished the tournament with seven goals, one more than Kane.
