LIVERPOOL, England (AP) – Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai agreed to a new five-year contract on Friday.
Szoboszlai joined from Leipzig and has been playing for Liverpool since 2023. The Hungary captain still had two years left on his previous contract before signing an extension to keep him at Anfield until 2031.
Szoboszlai, 25, helped Liverpool win the Premier League in 2025. During his three seasons with the club, he played in 147 games and scored 28 points.
Last season, he shined in Liverpool’s underwhelming season, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists in 53 appearances. However, his team finished in fifth place, 25 points behind champions Arsenal, leading to the sacking of manager Arne Slott.
He will now play a part in the rebuilding process as follows: New director Andoni Iraola.
