Colette Roche, United’s new stadium development chief executive, said: “Together with our partners, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver a destination that will have lasting benefits for our supporters, the local community and the wider region for decades to come.” “We are committed to building a world-class stadium, not just for our supporters, but with them.”

United’s Co-owner Jim Ratcliffe Our mission is to provide the “world’s best” soccer stadium.

When plans were first announced last year, it was estimated that building Britain’s biggest stadium, larger than Wembley, would cost around £2 billion ($2.6 billion) and be completed in time for the 2030-31 season.

Initial drawings for the stadium included a structure with three spires. The final design has not been decided.

Wembley is currently Britain’s largest stadium, with a capacity of 90,000 people, and is the home of the England national football team.

Old Trafford is the country’s largest dedicated soccer stadium, with a capacity of just over 74,000 people, but it is older compared to venues such as London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which regularly hosts NFL matches.
