MADRID (AP) – Real Madrid has strengthened its defense with the signing of Dutch international Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan.
Madrid made the announcement on Sunday, less than a week after Dumfries and the Netherlands were eliminated by Morocco in the Round of 32 of the World Cup.
Madrid have not disclosed financial details of the transfer agreement with Inter. The contract between Dumfries and Madrid is valid for four seasons.
Dumfries, 30, started all four games for the Netherlands at the World Cup. The right-back will compete for minutes at Madrid with Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was signed last year. Veteran right-back Dani Carvajal has left the club after 13 seasons.
