Manchester City manager Josep Guardiola has reached an agreement in principle with Nottingham Forest, owned by Evangelos Marinakis, to sign Elliott Anderson in a deal worth €134.5 million in a single direct payment, potentially setting a new transfer record in English football.

Nottingham Forest, Olympiakos and Rio Avenue owner Evangelos Marinakis had demanded €150 million from City for the star player.

Elliott Anderson’s move to City pending medical examination
The Daily Mail emphasizes that the player’s desire to represent England at the World Cup was a decisive factor in sealing the deal.

Anderson suffered some slight discomfort in his hip ahead of England’s game against Panama, but it was not believed to be serious and no imaging tests were required.
England manager Thomas Tuchel has already said he will facilitate summer transfers for players within his squad.
