After a 22-year drought of painful near-misses, Arsenal are finally crowned Premier League champions again. They are now targeting Paris Saint-Germain in the final in Budapest on Sunday, May 30th, aiming for their first-ever Champions League title and a historic double. As with the 2001-2002 campaign, Arsenal reached their pinnacle after three successive seasons of runners-up, but once again the fourth time was the charm.
The difference in points between first and 18th place is the smallest in more than a decade, and in a season that saw big-spending teams like last season’s winners Liverpool (who spent more than £350m in the summer) and Manchester City relentlessly perform, Arsenal stood out. This victory marks the end of Pep Guardiola’s legendary 10-year tenure in the Premier League, as well as the start of a new era for them and English football.
Max Dauman makes history as youngest Premier League winner
The most impressive thing about this Arsenal squad is that everyone in the starting lineup is under the age of 30, with the exception of goalkeeper David Raya, who has won the Golden Glove Award three years in a row. Among them is Max Daumann, who holds the Guinness World Record for being the youngest player to win the Premier League.
By the end of the campaign, Dauman will be 16 years and 144 days old. By exceeding the minimum requirement of 5 league games, players will be officially awarded a commemorative winner’s medal. Dowman comfortably dethroned the previous record holder, Manchester City’s Phil Foden, who was 17 years and 350 days old when he won the title in 2017/18.
If Dowman can follow in Foden’s footsteps, he could be in line for an impressive career as Foden has already made more than 300 appearances and was named Premier League Player of the Year in 2024.
This is Dowman’s second major score of the year, and he already made history in January when he became the Premier League’s youngest scorer with a stunning solo goal in a 2-0 win over Everton at just 16 years and 73 days.
