MORRISTOWN, N.J. (AP) – Brazil made injury changes to its World Cup squad with less than a week until its first match against Morocco, with right back Wesley out and midfielder Ederson in.

The Brazilian Football Federation announced on Sunday that Wesley had injured a muscle in his left thigh. He was sent off early in Saturday night’s friendly against Egypt in Cleveland, but imaging tests showed there was enough to take Wesley out of the World Cup.

“Wesley is a player loved by the organization and will always be considered as part of this team that aims to win six world championships,” the Brazilian federation said.

Ederson, 26, is currently scheduled to join the U.S. team as part of the 26-man roster. Brazil opens World Cup group play on Saturday at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
