In Saturday’s matchup between the league’s top teams, the Portland Thorns tied the game 2-2 with the Utah Royals after Sophia Wilson converted a penalty kick in stoppage time.
In other National Women’s Soccer League action, the Washington Spirit defeated the Seattle Reign 2-1. Kansas City Current defeated Boston Legacy 1-0.
The Thorns (7-3-3) took a 1-0 lead on Olivia Moultrie’s goal in the 21st minute.
The top-ranked Royals (7-2-3), unbeaten in their last 10 games, tied the score in the 44th minute with a header from Kiana Palacios. It was the first goal Portland has conceded at Providence Park this season, and its home shutout streak ended at 637 minutes.
Mina Tanaka scored Chloe Lacasse in the 50th minute to give Utah a 2-1 lead.
Alexa Spaanstra fouled Jaden Perry’s penalty in the box and Wilson converted for his fifth goal of the season.
Second place Portland is undefeated at home in 10 regular season games up until last season.

Hal Hirschfeld scored his first goal of the season in the 81st minute to give the Spirit (6-2-3) a victory over the Reign at Audi Field.
Spirit midfielder Lacey Santos scored the first goal in the 18th minute with a free kick from outside the box.
Reign (4-5-2) tied the score in the 44th minute with an own goal from defender Lucia Di Guglielmo.
Hirschfeld’s winning shot was deflected by defender Jordyn Bugg.

Reigning league MVP Temwa Chawinga scored his seventh goal of the season in the 69th minute to help Current (7-5-0) defeat visiting Legacy.
Goalkeeper Lorena made three saves and kept a clean sheet for the third time this season.
Current enters the summer break with an undefeated home record (6 wins, 0 losses, 0 draws) and currently has an unbeaten record of 23 consecutive home games (20 wins, 0 losses, 3 draws).
Legacy (2-7-3) is winless in its last three games.
Current defender Kayla Sharples went down with an injury in the opening two minutes and left the field seven minutes later as a substitute with a concussion.
