LONDON (AP) — West Ham and Tottenham’s battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League heads into the final round.
Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat at Chelsea on Tuesday ended West Ham’s hopes of retaining their top-flight status for 14 years.
With one game left, West Ham are third-last and in the final relegation spot, two points behind Tottenham. They are the only team capable of beating Wolverhampton and Burnley, who have already been relegated.
On Sunday, West Ham play at home to Leeds, while Tottenham face Everton.
Tottenham have a better goal difference than West Ham with 12 points, so if they are level on points and take it to a tiebreaker, they are likely to stay in the top spot.
Tottenham have been in the Premier League since its creation in 1992, and last played in the second division in the 1977-78 season.
