BARCELONA, Spain (AP) – Barcelona and Hansi Flick have reached an agreement to extend the coach’s contract until 2028 with an option for another season.
Barcelona announced on Monday that Flick, 61, who described himself as the “architect of winning Barça”, had signed a new contract.
“In just two seasons at FC Barcelona, Flick has already written his name in the history of the club with trophies, records and vision for the future,” Barcelona said. “The German wants to continue this success and bring even more success to his time as Barça manager.”
Flick was already talking about an extension after leading the club to a contract extension last week. 2nd consecutive Spanish league victorysaid that Barcelona gave him and his staff the confidence to continue working.
“For me, it’s an honor to continue this journey,” he said Monday. “I feel the passion of the club, the staff, the players and the fans every day. It’s great. We want to win more titles. That’s our goal, to win more titles. Maybe the Champions League as well. We’re working hard for that.”
Flick has previously said he has no intention of coaching again after his spell at Barcelona ends. He joined the club in May 2024, replacing Xavi Hernández.
Flick previously coached Bayern Munich and the German national team.
