SAO PAULO (AP) — Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has extended his contract with the team through the 2030 World Cup.
A 66-year-old Italian coach was appointed. May 2025 He has already hinted at the possibility of an extension and confirmed the deal in a video released by Brazilian football federation CBF on Thursday.
The announcement came just before Ancelotti announced his Brazil squad for the upcoming World Cup on Monday.
“I came to Brazil a year ago. From the first moment I understood what football means to this country. For a year we have been working to bring the Brazilian national team back to the top of the world. But the CBF and I want more than that,” Ancelotti said. “More wins, more time, more work. I am very happy to announce that we will continue together for another four years. Together we will go all the way to the 2030 World Cup.”
The former Real Madrid and AC Milan manager has had a difficult time in Brazil so far, with a number of players injured and doubts as to whether his team can become serious contenders in the North American competition. Under Ancelotti, Brazil have 5 wins, 3 losses and 2 draws in 10 games.
Ancelotti replaced Dorival Junior, who underperformed last year, and had to scramble to qualify for South America for the World Cup.
