Australian striker Sam Kerr says he won’t return to Chelsea

Australian striker Sam Kerr has announced that he is leaving Chelsea after more than six seasons.

Kerr, whose contract with the club expires at the end of this season, announced his departure in a video posted on social media, appearing with his one-year-old son Jagger.

“Hello Chelsea fans, unfortunately this time it’s true. I wanted you to hear it from me, but this Saturday will be my last game for Chelsea,” she said. “I definitely don’t want this to be a sad conversation. I want it to be more than a celebration, but to remember all the good times we’ve had together. It’s been an honor to represent you these last six and a half years, and we’ve had some great memories. Hopefully, we can make some more great memories on Saturday.”

Kerr has scored 16 goals for Chelsea this season and will face Manchester United on Saturday. The club will also bid farewell to Millie Bright. announced her retirement After 12 years at Chelsea.

Kerr, 32, has scored 64 goals in the Women’s Super League and is a two-time winner of the league’s Golden Boot award. She has scored 115 goals in all competitions, one goal behind Chelsea’s all-time top scorer Fran Kirby. Chelsea won five WSL titles, three FA Cups and three League Cups during Kerr’s tenure.

Kerr is the Australian women’s national team’s all-time leading scorer with 73 goals and is known for celebrating backflip goals.

Widely considered one of the best strikers in the world, Kerr is the only player to win the Golden Boot award in three different leagues.

Before joining Chelsea, Kerr played in the US National Women’s Soccer League and Australia’s W-League. She is married to Christie Mewi, an American who played for the U.S. national team.
