MILAN (AP) — U.S. forward Christian Pulisic is likely to recover from a lower back injury in time for AC Milan’s penultimate Serie A game this weekend.
Pulisic absent AC Milan’s game against Atalanta on Sunday was yet another setback for the American, who is enduring the longest goal drought of his career.
However, he trained with the rest of the Milan squad on Wednesday and is expected to be included by Rossoneri manager Massimiliano Allegri for Sunday’s game against Genoa. Milan’s final game of the season will be at home against Cagliari next week.
Pulisic has not scored in his last 17 league games since December 28. He has not scored in eight games for the U.S. national team.
Milan lost 3-2 They face Atalanta at home on Sunday, putting them at risk of missing out on qualification for next season’s Champions League.
The Rossoneri are in fourth place, qualifying for the final Champions League spot, level on points with fifth-placed Roma and just two points ahead of Como.
The United States will play friendlies against Senegal on May 31st and Germany on June 6th. World Cup match against Paraguay begins June 12th in Inglewood, California. The Americans will play Australia in Seattle a week later and finish the group stage on June 25 against Turkey at SoFi Stadium.
