TOLUCA, Mexico (AP) — Sparked by second-half goals from Herrinho and Everardo del Villar, Toluca defeated LAFC 4-0 on Wednesday. CONCACAF Champions Cup final match UANL Tigress.

Herrinho converted a penalty in the 49th minute, and Del Villar doubled the lead in the 58th minute.

Portuguese striker Joao Paulo Díaz “Paulinho” added two goals in stoppage time for the Red Devils, who won the semi-final series 5-2 on aggregate.

This will be the first all-Mexican final in the continental tournament since 2021, when Monterrey defeated Club América.

Regardless of who wins the final on May 30th, a Mexican team will take home the championship trophy for the fourth year in a row. The last team to win an MLS title was the Seattle Sounders in 2022.

Toluca will be aiming for its third title at the tournament, the first since 2003 when they defeated Morelia in the final between the Mexican teams.

Toluca achieved the victory despite the absence of two Mexican players, Alexis Vega and Jesus Gallardo, who were required to join the national team for the World Cup.

LAFC was aiming to reach the finals for the third time in their fourth appearance. The club also reached the Champions Cup final in 2020 and 2023.

LAFC finished the game with 10 men after Ryan Porteous was sent off in the 88th minute.
