Sofia Cantore scored two goals, Trinity Rodman added a goal and two assists, and the Washington Spirit won their fourth straight game with a 4-2 win over the Orlando Pride on Saturday.
In other National Women’s Soccer League games, the Utah Royals defeated Angel City FC 1-0 on the road, and the Kansas City Currents defeated host North Carolina Courage 2-1.
After a 90-minute weather delay, Washington wasted no time. In the second minute, Rodman converted Cantore’s goal from outside the box for a 1-0 lead.
In the seventh inning, Rodman passed to Cantore, who dribbled past Anna Moorhouse and homered, increasing the lead to two points.
The two goals (5 minutes, 27 seconds) were the fastest in league history, with Cantore beating the previous record set by Uchenna Kanu in 2024 by 13 seconds.
Golden Boot leader Barbra Banda fouled defender Esme Morgan in the box, but Spirit goalkeeper Sandy McIver denied Aly Lemos a penalty. Banda scored his sixth goal of the season on the ensuing corner kick, closing the gap.
Banda scored the tying goal in the first half and scored his seventh goal in the 39th to tie the score.
Paraguay international Claudia Martinez, making her first NWSL start, scored her second goal of the season in the 55th minute to give the Spirit (4-1-3) back the lead.
Rodman scored the winning goal in the 70th minute, marking his third straight game with points.
Despite Banda scoring two goals in two straight games, the Pride (2-3-2) fell in both performances.
Royals 4 wins in a row
Captain Paige Cronin scored the only goal of the game in the 32nd minute with a pinpoint cross over Chloe Lacasse’s head, giving Utah State (4-2-1) its fourth straight win.
In first-half stoppage time, Maiara Niewes received a direct red card for violent behavior towards Lacasse. It was the first time in club history that Angel City FC used one player for the entire second half.
Royals goalkeeper Mandy McGlynn started the first game of the 2026 season and kept a clean sheet with four saves.
Angel City FC (3-3-0) started the season with three straight wins, but has now lost three straight.
Current hold on road wins
Croix Bethune and Michelle Cooper scored first-half goals for Current (3-4-0), looking for the win on the road.
Bethune took the lead with a volley goal in the 8th minute. In the 23rd minute, Cooper dribbled past goalkeeper Kylen Sheridan and scored from a tight angle to make it 2-0.
The University of North Carolina (2-2-3) cut the lead to 2-1 with Manaka Matsukubo’s goal off a rebound in the 85th inning.
Brave defender Felicitas Rauch was given a straight red card in stoppage time for his violent behavior towards Hayley Hopkins.
