BERLIN (AP) — Bayern Munich will host Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the Champions League semifinals after salvaging a 3-3 draw with Bundesliga-bottom Heidenheim by scoring on a late kick.
Bayern equalized in the 10th minute of stoppage time on Saturday when Michael Olise hit the post, the ball bounced off the back of Heidenheim goalkeeper Diant Ramazi and went into the net.
It was the third consecutive game in which Bayern were trailing at half-time, including Tuesday’s 5-4 loss to PSG in the first leg of the semi-finals and last weekend’s 4-3 win over Mainz, where the already crowned Bundesliga champions faced a three-goal deficit.
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany made seven changes to his starting XI against PSG, with Manuel Neuer, Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich, Michael Olise, Luis Diaz and Harry Kane all on the substitute bench.
Heidenheim’s Budou Zivzivadze and Ellen Dinkci scored, Leon Goretzka pulled one back with a free-kick before the end of the first half, and Kompany brought on Kane, Dias, Oliseh and Kimmich in the second half.
Goretzka equalized with his second goal in the 57th minute, then Zivzivadze scored again in the 76th minute to restore Heidenheim’s lead, but Olise equalized.
This draw leaves Heidenheim in danger of being relegated.
Other games
Union Berlin drew with Cologne 2-2 and picked up their first point under new manager Marie-Louise Eta, the league’s first female head coach.
Tom Rothe pulled one back from a corner kick in the 73rd minute, substitute Livan Burg scored in the 89th minute, and Cologne looked like winners to the home fans after goals from Marius Würter and Said El Mara.
The draw leaves Union one point ahead of Cologne and is probably enough to keep them alive.
Hoffenheim drew 3-3 with Stuttgart in the match for Champions League qualification, while Hamburger SV defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 to move one point ahead of Union.
Augsburg defeated Werder Bremen 3-1.
Bayer Leverkusen then hosted Leipzig in another match for Champions League qualification.
