HOUSTON (AP) — Goaltender Claudia Dickey saved an early free kick and the Seattle Reign held on to a scoreless draw on a rainy Friday night against the Houston Dash on the road.
This was the only game on Friday’s National Women’s Soccer League schedule.
Dickey made five saves for the Reign (3-2-2) after losing 3-0 at home to the Utah Royals last weekend. They were under pressure early on, but saved a free kick from Kat Roeder in the 7th minute.
Jane Campbell also made five saves for Houston (3-2-1), which suffered its first home loss of the season this past weekend, losing 1-0 to Courage.
The Reign was without veteran midfielder Jess Fishlock, who left the field with a leg injury against Utah. Coach Laura Harvey said this week that the injury is not season-ending and that she expects Fishlock to return at some point.
Days before his injury, Fishlock announced that he intended to retire at the end of the season. She has been playing for the Reign since the league’s inception in 2013.
Houston’s Daniel Colaprico started in his 220th career NWSL appearance, second in the league among active players behind Fishlock.
